We have huge news for the next PlayStation 4 update, This update will feature cross-play ability with PC and Apple Macs for the first time in the console life. This along with a few new features that the 3.50 update will be releasing will be huge for the PlayStation brand and the ongoing console rivalry between the Xbox One and PlayStation. The set up of the update is broken into two sections one focusing on the social feature coming to the update and the second section called others. All of the new was released on the PlayStation blog site earlier today.
First we’ll talk about the new Social features coming to the PlayStation. First up in the the social features portion of the list is the Friend Online Notification, Appear Offline, User Scheduled Event, and Play Together. Now the PlayStation 4 will be able to notify its PlayStation network user will now be able to set up special alert to notify players that a member of a clan is online. This feature is something that is already built into the Xbox and was not one of the most asked for features to improve the social features of the PlayStation. Second on the list is Appear offline. This feature like it says keep you playing anonymously from anyone who maybe on a friends list on the PlayStation Network. This feature is one of the most asked for by the PlayStation community, and it nullifies the Notification alert feature new with this update. Third is the User Scheduled events feature that will have allow players to take place in certain events. The official description from the PlayStation blog is “Time for a play date! We’ve added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.”. The last social feature update is Play together. This feature is an expansion of the system that Sony already uses in its play share ability. The new Play Together will allow players in a party to play the same game regardless if a person has it or not.
The so called “other features” are Remote Play (PC/Mac) and Dailymotion. Remote play on PlayStation already exists with the Sony Smart phone that allows for streaming on devices that are already connect to the console and same wifi system. the official description from the blog that describes what the update will do to remote play is “We’re bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.”. This feature is brand to new to PlayStation but still behind the Xbox version because the Xbox version allows for stream to all Window devices and supports the backwards comparability that is still only in use by Microsoft. The new Daily motion update is just that an update that allows for PlayStation owners to stream content easier.
